Regularization of sanitation workers will be considered: UD&H Minister
Bhopal : Regularization of sanitation workers of urban bodies in a phased manner will be considered. The sanitation workers have not been regularized after 2006. The contractual system of sanitation workers will also be abolished. Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Jaivardhan Singh said this during a discussion on the demand letter presented by the representatives of All India Safai Mazdoor Congress.
Shri Singh said that a decision will soon be taken after sympathetically considering the demands presented. He said that despite both the husband and wife being employed, provision of compassionate appointment on the death of either of them will be considered. Shri Singh said that the sanitation workers must be engaged only in the work for which they have been recruited. He said that a compassionate appointment will be considered for the dependent member of the sanitation worker’s family on voluntary retirement after 20 years of service after he attains the age of 50. Provision of houses to the sanitation workers under the proposed Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme, formation of Sanitation Workers Finance Development Corporation and promotion of sanitation workers will be considered seriously.
Minister Shri Singh said that health insurance will be provided to the sanitation workers. He said that he will discuss with the Minister of Tribal Welfare about handing over the Samajik Mangal Bhavan in Ambedkar Nagar to the Valmiki Samaj Panchayat. Shri Singh said that the sanitation workers should play an active role in getting the state the first place in Cleanliness Campaign.
MLA Shri Arif Masood, Commissioner Urban Administration Shri P. Narahari, Additional Commissioner Shri Swatantra Singh and Deputy Secretary Urban Development and Housing Shri Manish Singh were present in the meeting.
